To be a Turn the Tide patient, we ask that you self-identify as meeting our insurance and income eligibility guidelines. Our goal is to provide services to those who are uninsured or underinsured, and cannot afford the cost of complementary and alternative health care.
Insurance Guidelines: You must be uninsured or underinsured, meaning your insurance either does not cover the services you need, or your deductible prevents you from accessing the services you need.
Income Guidelines: You must make $24,000 or less per year per adult, plus $8,400 for each additional person supported by your salary. If you have health insurance that covers our services, or if you are financially able to pay, please do so and visit our offices as paying patients. Please respect that Turn the Tide´s practitioners offer a small amount of their time each to serve the uninsured and underinsured.
Step One: Discover Your OptionsExplore our website to learn about the many types of complementary and alternative healthcare services offered through Turn the Tide. We ask that you, as a Turn the Tide patient, take the initiative to decide which service you would like to receive, select a provider, and schedule your own appointments. We encourage you to learn about each type of service and select for yourself the type of service you need. You will also find biographies and contact information for each provider.
Step Two: Schedule An AppointmentAfter choosing the type of complementary or alternative care you would like to receive, select a practitioner from our listing. All practitioners maintain busy practices, so please contact them as they request, either by phone or email. Please allow up to 48 hours for a response (for all emergencies please call 9-1-1). Be sure to mention you are interested in scheduling a Turn the Tide appointment; otherwise you will be scheduled as a regular patient and may incur fees based on payment policies of individual practitioners.
All appointments are booked at the practitioners discretion. If the practitioner has already filled their Turn the Tide appointments for the month, please contact another provider who offers the same service, or call back at a later date. Appointments are scheduled on a first come first serve basis.
Step Three: Attend Your AppointmentAll appointments take place in the practitioner’s individual office. You will be asked to complete a short health survey before and after receiving care. These anonymous surveys are used to show the value that complementary and alternative medicine would bring to a more inclusive, integrated health care system for America.
Step Four: Payment OptionsFollowing your appointment, you will be asked to donate your time helping others in whatever way you see fit, or make a cash donation to Turn the Tide. Please see the "pay it forward" page page for more details about how to give back. You may be asked to tell us how you plan to pay it forward, and we encourage you to send us a testimonial about how you will give back to your community.
DisclaimerTurn the Tide Health Collaborative (TTTHC) is an online network of complementary and alternative health care practitioners. All practitioners within the TTTHC network hold licenses or certification in their chosen field if required by the State of Maine. Some providers are able to function has primary care providers while others are not trained to do so. It is the responsibility of the patient or client to self-select the service that most suits their needs and to be aware of the scope of practice for the provider they choose. While all providers carry private malpractice insurance, TTTHC and its providers are not responsible for health care services rendered by any practitioner within the TTTHC network. Additionally, there may be restrictions that a practitioner who contracts with an insurance company cannot give away services to someone who holds a policy with that same company. This may apply to chiropractors and physical therapists in our network.
